The new edition of the standard, ISO 9001:2008 has been published and promulgated by ISO on the 15th of November 2008. The whole world was awaiting this event since January this year and ISO has kept its words.
There are close to 1 million certificates of ISO 9001:2000 standard in the world. There will be a global transition from the old version to the new version of this unique Quality Management System too. And the impact of this transition will be felt in the whole supply chain in which a business operates.
What was there in version 2000? What are the changes in the new version, i.e., ISO 9001:2008? How to interpret the new text? How to implement them?
When will the existing ISO 9001:2000 certificate be expired and how the transition to ISO 9001:2008 will have to be done?
All the auditors – both internal and external – need to know these. All the organization who are certified, need to make their employees aware of this.
