Tourism is a sector of tremendous potential in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a land that is blessed with natural beauty and places of human interest. One can name many places of the top of one’s head – Cox’s Bazaar, Sundarban, Kuakata, Rangamati, and Sreemangal - just to name a few which are capable of attracting tourists both from home and abroad. But for lack of effective marketing and marketing professional the potential of Bangladeshi tourism industry is not making the most of it. Therefore BIID is trying to provide training on tourism marketing to the present tourism professional and also to the potential tourism professional to develop the excellence in tourism marketing. Tourism marketing is an important area where most of the advanced countries with good history of tourism business emphasized. It is observable that the workforce with good understanding in tourism marketing will accelerate the business of the agencies as well as the growth of the countries tourism industries.

The main objective of the training is to provide marketing knowledge to the present and potential tourism professionals. The participants will get good understanding about tourism marketing which will increase their capacity as tourism professionals as well as increase the business of their agencies. Different tourism institutes of Bangladesh offers different types of tourism related training course like training on hotel management, tourism management, travel service, professional chef course but there is no course on tourism marketing. The tourism industry is growing in Bangladesh but it has potential to grow faster than the present pace. In last five years the number of tour operators and travel agencies has increased significantly although many of the agencies lack human resource with good understanding of tourism marketing and effective tourism marketing strategy. The tourism industry has real demand for tourism marketing professionals; the training will enrich the human resource of the tourism agencies to earn more and the tourism professional to be paid more and the training will also be an opportunity for the fresh graduates to find a job easily in the tourism industries.
