About Workshop
Planning of a Supply Chain (SC) with multiple sources, tiers, & delivery points (SC Network) needs additional parameters to be considered for the effectiveness; than those needed for single ones. For effective and efficient planning of a Supply Chain Network (SCN) the Advanced Network Planning (ANP) theories are used. Sometimes we refer the IT tools/modules/methods to execute this planning as Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) and/or Production Planning & Control System (PPCS).
BOM represents the material requirement for each item. MRP—1 accumulates the BOM items according to the requirement and then commercial part of SC purchases the materials. MRP—2 is necessary to plan the overall manufacturing process. ERP actually refers the total integration where the use of IT has become inevitable.
The above description is more relevant for a single production site with less dynamic sources and delivery environments. As the company grows, more production sites (or distribution centers) are to open and to maintain. Then this sourcing and supply network is optimized with the theories of ANP.
ANP optimizes Inventory costs, Transportation costs, increases equipment utilization, & goods availability. As technology has become more available than ever before, the businesses are now competing among themselves with their efficiencies in SC Execution. Efficient SC provides the competitive advantage in terms of less costs/wastages, customer satisfaction; more value added activities; goods & information flow with less finance. The course is designed to present the ANP theories to plan & efficiently execute the SC.
