About Workshop

Operations Management (OM) is systematic design, direction and control of process that transform inputs into service and product for internal and external customers. Our garments sector is running without proper practice of Operations Management(OM). Management of garments industry is not clearly aware of Operations Management concept. But, proper practice of OM can ensure sustainable growth of the company. OM starts from business negotiation and ended at realization of money from buyer. It is not only matter of production people but also for other departments like merchandising, procurement, commercial and ancillary departments or companies related with export directly or indirectly. It has been observed, sometimes, interdepartmental problems happened due to non practice of OM.

SOP, IE, Work Study, Problem Solving Process, CPM, Linear Programming and other scientific analysis are under Operations Management. Concepts and tools of OM are widely used in managing other functions of managers, merchandisers and supervisors. Individual participant will learn tools and techniques of OM required for systematic thinking, analysis and actions to ensure productivity of him and company as a whole system. Business practice is incomplete without an understanding of modern approaches to OM. Operations Management serves as an excellent career path to upper management position in many organization, one survey of manufacturing firm showed over 45 percent of the Chief Executive appointed had operations back ground in USA.

Objectives:
Clear understanding of Operations Management and it’s modern tools techniques so that participants can use in their working place to ensure sustainable smooth productivity in the company.

Participants will be able to learn Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in merchandising department and production department and this learning will help them to work systematically, efficiently and professionally. ---Fabrics consumption calculation procedure and cost sheet of garments.
---Negotiation procedure with different suppliers, shipping and forwarding companies.
---Practice and case study for participants.

---Production Planning and Control System.
---Time Study in production of garments.
---Manpower planning and gap analysis for training for skill development.
---Motivational techniques for sustainable work force.

Session-IV(3:45pm-5:00pm)
---IE and OR for production.
---Procedure of effective preproduction meeting.
---Execution system of MIS in Production Department.
---IE used in OM in production.
---Case analysis and open discussion.
