Mr. Sams Uddin Ahmed

Addl. Commissioner of Taxes

Mr. Ahmed is one of the most dynamic personalities in the Taxes Department of Bangladesh.*** His excellent performance in both academic and professional career has led him to an important position within a short period of time.

He has achieved his Master of Laws (LLM) from Dhaka University, and New South Wales University in Sydney. In Both the institutions he had achieved distinctions for his excellence. He obtained first class in both honors and masters. In 1996, he received Aus Aid Scholarship and went to Sydney, Australia to do LLM in Commercial Law. He has got excellent research experience. Recently he has been offered a placed in the PhD program in law in the University of Western Sydney.

At present he is working as an Additional Commissioner of Taxes. He is also working as guest faculty in different educational institutions. His area of interest is Taxation Law, Commercial law, Environmental law, Islamic law, International law and Comparative Legal System. He is also one of the Examiners and Paper setters of the National University. He started his academic career in 1993 and he taught taxation law in the School of Business, Jahangir Nagar University. Thereafter he rendered his academic services in different educational institutions including the University of Dhaka. He joined the Bangladesh Civil Service, Taxation cadre in 1991 as an Assistant Commissioner of Taxes. From that time he is serving in the Taxes Department in different capacities. Mr. Ahmed is also a lyricist, a musician, a composer and a folk singer. He is enlisted with BTV as a lyricist since 1994.
