Macros and VBA in Practical Excel Application Development


Macro and VBA are the most productive and essential advance level features of Microsoft Excel. Using Macro and VBA you can develop applications and models that can be used repeatedly. Macro/VBA can be used with and without programming knowledge. With programming capacity of VBA there is no end of learning in excel based application development. This course is designed to provide learners a solid foundation on Excel Macro and VBA with a clear guide-map of advancing their knowledge and working skills in excel based programming.

3. Record Macros and assign to Short-cut Keys

4. View codes behind macro and edit macro codes

5. Identify and Describe various form controls

6. Assign macro inside a Button

7. Assign macro in checkbox and option button

8. Assign macro in scroll bar and spin button

9. Identify and describe various ActiveX control

10. Write codes inside ActiveX button

11. Create VBA forms with various AcitiveX control

12. Use VBA forms with worksheets

13. Create your own function (UDF) inside VBA module

14. Use the UDF within a workbook and in all workbooks

15. Convert the UDF to installable/Distributable Add-ins

16. Install and distribute the Add-ins


The programme will be delivered using formal lectures combined with practical and interactive case studies and exercises. There will be a great emphasis on gaining practical experiences.

Contents of Training:

Create small/large macros and examine the background codes of Macros
Developer Tab, Macro, Macro Settings, Trust Center, Digital Signature, Macro Toolbar, Visual Basic, Project Explorer etc.

Identify various Form controls and assign Macros to Form controls:
Button, Drop-down box, Scroll Bar, Checkbox, Option Button, List box, Group box, Assignable objects.

Identify and explore various ActiveX control and write codes inside ActiveX controls:
Button, Drop-down box, Scroll Bar, Checkbox, Option Button, List box, Group box, VBA forms, Worksheet Activation/Deactivation, IF Logic

Create User Defined Functions and installable/distributable Add-ins:
User Defined Function, Module, Function declaration, Personal macro workbook, Variable Declaration, Add-ins, Excel Options etc.
