The Problem Solving Techniques Course is designed for those professionals who want to acquire techniques in problem-solving and decision making. At the end of the course, the participants would have a clear understanding of:

• The importance of working in teams when solving problems
• Poka-Yoke – Mistake Proofing
• Workshop on Team exercises using Poka-Yoke techniques

Session 2: Understanding Corrective Action
• The corrective-action process
• Understanding problem identification and brain storming
• 5 Why’s techniques and root cause analysis
• Analyzing effectiveness of their implementation
• 5W1H and 6W2H
• Because Logical Analysis Techniques
• Detailed specification of the problem
• Documentation of the background information and evidence

After graduating from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), OIC, Sadat Shams joined British American Tobacco Bangladesh in 2014 at the Operations Department, before leaving in November 2017.

At BATB, Mr. Shams, in his very first year, improved manufacturing output by 25% by improving machine efficiency and upskilling of people. Soon he was chosen to be a part of a specialized team to launch the Global BAT Project called Integrated Working System (IWS) in Bangladesh in 2015 and later coordinated the rollout of IWS throughout all machines in manufacturing in 2016 and 2017.

Simultaneously, he trained and developed more than 200+ shop floor employees in terms of Technical Skill, Efficient Machine Operation and EH&S. Simultaneously, he drove several projects like 5S and introducing Lean Methodologies to shop-floor employees to help achieve Operational Excellence.

In November 2017, Mr. Shams left BATB to pursue his career in the world of Consultancy and People Development, founding his firm The Glass Door CES. Simultaneously, he started pursuing Executive MBA at Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka.

So far, as an Auditor, he has conducted Safety Audits at several organizations, most significant being at OTOBI Limited, Chittagong Grammar School, G-Fifty Juice Factory, and Bashundhara Printing Limited.

As a consultant, he has worked with several organizations in building QMS and EHS Frameworks, most significant being MBioLogix, Bashundhara Printing and Process Automation Limited. He has also worked on several Feasibility Projects, including one for Daakbox, and lead 3 Feasibility Projects for Grant Thornton Bangladesh Limited.

He has also worked in the development sector, collaborating with Kaizen CRS, a reputed consultancy firm, to work on several projects, the most significant being at the European Union funded Shamerto Project, where he did research on the issues that hamper the business expansion of the SMCEs in Sherpur, Jamalpur, Gaibandha and Kurigram. His research also included investigation on the solutions to the aforementioned issues, as well as how these organizations can operate as capacity building agents for people development in their regions.

As a Corporate Trainer, Mr. Shams co-facilitated Process Optimization and Health and Safety trainings for 60+ Managers working with SGS Bangladesh. He also worked with Sirolli Institute at the weeklong Enterprise Facilitation kickoff training program for 20 people for Heifer International at Rajshahi. He also organized and co-conducted SR training for 50 employees of Bombay Sweets Co. Ltd. and facilitated an awareness building Training Program – Go Green – sponsored by EMK Center.

At the same time, he launched the Career Acceleration Program, a month-long training program focused on training Fresh Graduates, at United International University, East West University and Southeast University, and trained 100+ participants. He conducted 3 Day Long ‘Professional Competency Training’ at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology for 60+ students. He also conducted workshops for 60+ fresh/recent graduates on aspects of operations and self-improvement for students of Dhaka University Economics Department.
