High salary and benefits in contrast to easily achievable qualification keeps the UN job at the top in the list of today’s job market. Let alone in 2015, top 10 UN agencies offered 14511 jobs with qualifications as low as mere graduation (even less in some categories). The required qualifications are so diverged that opportunity to become a UN employee rest with anyone who submits an appropriate application. Despite of such flexibility, our numbers are few, apparently due to lack of knowledge on the UN job system and on the selection process. This course intends to make the participants ready for competing for a UN job in his/her field of expertise.

Aim of this course is to make the participants conversant with the selection procedure in order to promote him/her as a potential candidate for UN job.

Objectives of the Course
The objectives are to make participants familiar on:
a. The nature, types of UN job and the vacancy announcement.
b. Technicalities of the application procedure for becoming shortlisted.
c. Selection procedure, i.e written examination, interviews etc.

Expected Outcome of the Course
On completion of this course, a participant will:
a. Develop a comprehensive idea on the opportunities that the UN system offers.
b. Be able to determine the suitable jobs that suits his/her present qualifications.
c. Be able to produce an appropriate ‘Personal History Profile’ for being short listed.
d. Be able to make a deliberate preparation plan to face the selection process.
e. Develop a plan to attain required qualification in order to pursue suitable job position.



Contents of Training:

The participants will receive a folder containing handouts and a set of questionnaire. The course will then be conducted through interactive lectures with power point presentation, case studies and examination/exercises. The course will be followed through social connectivity to assist the participant in pursuing their career which may include consultancy with attractive concession. The course will have three following sessions of total 09 hours that can be conducted either during weekends for two days or through three consecutive evenings:

a. Session 1- Understanding the Job.
(1) Overview of UN, employment opportunity and job networks.
(2) Staff categories.
(3) Other entries.

b. Session 2 –Acquaintance with the Selection Procedure.
(1) Finding a job and understanding the vacancy announcement.
(2) Selection process – stages and criteria.
(5) Assessment system.

c. Session 3 – Persuasion for the Job.
(1) Completing Profile.
(2) Technicalities of filling PHP.
(3) Practice on assessments.
