VAT is a very important matter of today’s life. Everybody comes across different matters of VAT in course of his daily life. It is more important for them whose decisions matter for their businesses, industries and offices. People dealing with management, human resource, finance, procurement, audit, supply chain, bills payable, Income Tax, VAT etc. in different businesses, industries and offices require knowing many things regarding VAT, some of those matters are tricky in nature.

MD. ABDUR ROUF is FOUNDER CHAIRMAN of BANGLADESH VAT PROFESSIONALS FORUM commonly known as the VAT Forum. The VAT Forum is a professional body of VAT professionals with about 550 members doing jobs mostly in private sector in the area of VAT. It is a professional body for cultivating and sharing VAT knowledge and developing skills of the members.
Mr. Rouf obtained bachelor and Master degrees in International Relations from the University of Dhaka, M.Phil. in Public Policy from National University and Ph.D. in Value Added Tax (VAT) policy of Bangladesh from Jahangirnagar University. He has received advanced training from international institutions in Thailand, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, Singapore, The Philippines, Australia, Uganda, France, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico and some other countries. Dr. Rouf is a distinguished VAT expert of the country who has been working in the VAT management of Bangladesh and providing VAT training for about 22 years since 1995. Prior to starting work in VAT management he worked for three years in banking. Dr. Rouf is a widely acclaimed VAT trainer of Bangladesh and a regular trainer at Bdjobs training.
Dr. Rouf has authored three books on VAT, two in Bangla and one in English. One of his Bangla book titled Shahaj Bhashai VAT has got wide popularity because of easy explanations of the provisions of law and practical questions and answers included in it. The other Bangla book titled Shahaj Bhashai Notun VAT Ain is based on the new VAT law which is presently kept in abeyance. He has authored one book in English titled Value Added Tax System of Bangladesh: act, rules and procedures. He has a good number of publications at home and abroad covering mostly VAT issues. He writes on various matters of VAT in national dailies. Dr. Rouf owns an website exclusively on VAT, that contains freely downloadable contents on VAT. Dr. Rouf answers VAT related short queries if sent to his email.
Dr. Rouf is member of a number of national and international bodies. He dreams of a business-friendly and revenue-friendly VAT system in Bangladesh to commensurate with Vision 2021 and 2041. He is married and has two sons and a daughter.
